It was a tough weekend for rap.
Just hours after LA rapper Kid Cali was killed at a pool party, up and coming 18-year old DMV rapper Swipey was gunned down early Sunday morning in front of his mom's house in Suitland, Maryland.
Swipey [Douglas Brooks] had a significant presence on the Internet, and was best known for his track 'Intro.' He had performed with Wale and Fat Joe.
"He performed and he shook every kid's hand and he took every picture and that's what the kids remember," WPGC DJ Tony Redz told News4 DC. "He took his stardom and he used it in a positive way to say 'Hey kids, I'm from where you are.'"Police believe the shooters knew Swipey, but haven't released any information on the suspects.
RIP Swipey.
