YNW Melly has been locked up and awaiting trial for over three years on two counts of first-degree murder.
The trial has been delayed due to COVID.
A few months ago, Melly had requested a speedy trial.
However, his lawyer just took that back
His legal team still hasn't finished their witness depositions and the state still trying to locate witnesses including Melly’s ex-girlfriend Mariah Hamilton and her mother.
The 22-year old is accused of killing his crew members YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser and faces life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted. Melly had claimed that Juvy and Sakchaser got hit in a driveby. However, prosecutors say that Melly snuffed them out from inside the car.
The word is the state has a very strong case against Melly, and he may well get the chair.
For now, the trial is scheduled for the end of May.
