Yasiin Bey has been living in South Africa since 2013, having fled the United States because he found living here challenging.
However, things weren't a cakewalk there either.
The artist formally known as Mos Def got in trouble with the South African government in January of this year after trying to use a World Passport, which SA doesn't recognize.
He was placed under house arrest for the violation. That finally ended this week.
"[He] has unreservedly apologized to the Government of South Africa," the county's home affairs department said in a press release on Tuesday. "The department is satisfied with the apology [and] will withdraw the charges against him."Bey is now permitted to leave South Africa. But he won't be allowed to reenter, having been labeled an "undesirable person" for his actions.
