In a 27 minute tape leaked to Pitchfork from the State Attorney’s Office in Florida earlier this week, XXXTentacion admits to fucking up his former girlfriend and to stabbing eight people, including his manager.
XXX had been charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering before he was murdered this summer in a seemingly unrelated incident. XXX vehemently denied the charges and many of his fans accused his ex of being a liar.
Now that the truth is out there, XXX's family is worried the recording will damage their campaign to get him a posthumous Grammy.
Sources close to the situation tell The Blast that XXX’s family is upset about the timing of the audio release because it was handed out right in the middle of Grammy award consideration.
The murdered star has been declared ineligible for a Best New Artist award, due to him releasing a song outside of the induction timeframe. However, his reps did submit XXXTentacion for Record of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Rock Song. His album, “?,” has also been submitted for Album of the Year and Best Alternative Album.
The 2019 Grammy nominees will be announced in December and we imagine XXX will have a tough time snagging one now that the tape is out there.
Oh well. Should have kept his hands to himself.
