Fred the Godson's death has sparked reaction from a lot of folks around hip-hop. The Bronx rapper passed away on Thursday after being infected with the Coronavirus.
Westside Gunn is one of the rappers who sent a message about Fred's passing. He did it Thursday on Instagram by posting their last text exchange. Westside recently revealed that he also had the virus.
"I don’t like showing messages but damn I F*CKIN HATE THIS CORONA shit," wrote Westside in the caption of his post. "My Aunt Michelle who raised me my whole life who introduced me to Hip Hop is in the hospital right now on the machine, sh*t almost took me out, I promise u they killing alot of us, today a bad day for me just say a prayer for my aunt."
In their text exchange, Westside sent Fred encouragement and said he'd eventually overcome his illness.
"Sending my love G, I had it too so I already know what u feel like I didn't tell anybody but sh*t I thought I was a goner. I finally got to hold my son last night again for the first time in weeks ur gonna shake that sh*t," he wrote.
