Wendy Williams's Son Explains How She Got Dementia

by HHL JT

Last week, Wendy Williams's team announced that she had been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

"Wendy would not have received confirmation of these diagnoses were it not for the diligence of her current care team, who she chose, and the extraordinary work of the specialists at Weill Cornell Medicine. Receiving a diagnosis has enabled Wendy to receive the medical care she requires," read a statement.

Experts say alcohol abuse and frontotemporal dementia can be related.

In the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, Williams's son, Kevin Hunter Jr. stated doctors believe her drinking triggered the dementia.

“[Doctors] basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain,” Kevin, 23, explained.“So, I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.”

The last episode of the Wendy Williams' show aired in June of 2022, and the 59-year-old has been barely seen since.
