A few weeks ago, Ashanti went off on one of her fans who threw money at her while she performed.
“I’m going to need you to stop throwing that money,” she said during a show in Honolulu. “I’m not a fucking stripper.”
It happened to be that Ashanti was wearing a skimpy outfit and giving guys lap dances when the money was tossed.
This fact wasn't lost on Joe Budden, who recently said Ashanti was asking for those bills by acting like a stripper.
Wendy Williams agreed with Joe -- and went all the way in on Ashanti -- during a recent airing of her eponymous daytime talk show.
"You know, I get the whole bodysuit thing. The difference is that Beyonce can come out—or Jennifer Lopez—in a bodysuit with a thong, and all booty showing, and the thigh-high boots and the whole bit, and nobody’s throwing money at her because they understand and respect the hustle. That’s the difference. Ashanti, you are a fledgling artist at best," Williams said.
"She’s 40-something years old at this point, nobody cares about her music—37, same difference," the vicious talker continued. "And I didn’t call you a stripper, I call you an exotic dancer and I agree with what Joe was saying. Ashanti, just take it for what it is: Nobody’s buying your music, nobody cares about your music. You’ve got a beautiful body and you’re using it to make your bones. And that is the fact, Jack."
Do you agree with Wendy and Joe that Ashanti was asking for the stripper treatment and should just be happy she made a few extra bucks? Here's a video of her Hawaii show:
