Unsurprisingly, Lizzo Backtracks On Walking Away From Her Career

by Daryl Nelson

A few days ago, Lizzo implied that she was walking away from her music career, but she's since provided clarification.

Last year, the 35-year-old was sued by her former dancers for sexual harassment and weight-shaming. She was later sued again by her wardrobe person for allegedly having a "sexualized, racially charged, and illegal work environment."

So after a lot of talk, jokes and debate on social media about Lizzo, she posted a statement about quitting.

"I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views ... being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look, being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name," she wrote on Instagram. "I didn’t sign up for this sh*t. I QUIT."

On Tuesday, however, Lizzo said she quit paying attention to negativity but isn't walking away from music.

"I wanna make this video because I just need to clarify. When I say 'I quit,' I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention," she said on Instagram. "What I'm not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people."
