The first big move of JAY-Z's partnership with the NFL has been the announcement of the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, which will feature Jennifer Lopez and Shakira and will take place February 2 at the Hard Rock Cafe Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Miami OG Uncle Luke has a huge problem with that since Lopez and Shakira aren't from Miami and aren't black.
He ripped Hov's participation in the decision in an editorial in the Miami New Times.
"Neither Lopez nor Shakira is from Miami," Luke writes. "Lopez and Shakira don't get involved in social issues that concern the community. They don't volunteer to help the needy. To me, that's a settler. This Super Bowl is supposed to be about showcasing Miami for more reasons than one ..."
Jay-Z is in violation of the G code. When you go into another man's city, you are supposed to consult with him. In this case Jay-Z should've had a conversation with me before coming up with this ludicrous idea," he wrote. "The NFL is disrespecting the hard work of black entertainers who have made Miami the center of the rap game."
"On the NFL Network, league officials said the show is going to promote Latinx culture because Miami is all about Hispanic people. That's a slap in the face to the African-American community, which includes a diverse mix of Bahamian, Jamaican, and Haitian people ..."
“We got whole-class entertainment here,” he added. “I would have thought you have sense to go and get Pitbull, Florida, Ross or somebody, Trick Daddy or something. Really?”
There have been rumors Pitbull might be added to the bill.
So far, neither Hov nor the NFL has responded to Luke's words which he paraphrased on IG.
