You probably know the story of Lil Wayne's cop friend Robert Hoobler aka Uncle Bob.
Bob saved 12-year-old Wayne's life after he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the chest.
“A bunch of Black cops jumped over me when they saw me at that door, laying on the floor with that hole in my chest,” Lil Wayne explained many years later. “Those Black cops jumped over me, and ran through the crib, and said, ‘We found the gun, we found this, we found that.’ [Uncle Bob] said, ‘I found this baby on this floor. I need to get to a hospital.’ He didn’t wait for an ambulance. He took his car. He made somebody drive it, and he made sure that I lived."
Wayne has said that because of Uncle Bob and his behavior on that day he doesn't see race. Weezy thought Uncle Bob had died several years ago, but when he found out he was still alive he tracked him down to offer him a job for life.
Sadly, Bob did just pass away for real. He was 65 years old.
RIP, Uncle Bob.
