Tupac's mom Afeni Shakur has passed away at age 69.
Afeni inspired the rap legend's song 'Dear Mama', and she guarded her son's legacy after his untimely death.
Police responded to Shakur’s Sausalito, California home last night, and then had Afeni transferred to the hospital. She was reported dead this morning of a suspected cardiac arrest.
Shakur was born Alice Faye Williams, but changed her name when she joined the Black Panthers. She had Tupac just months after being acquitted of conspiring to bomb New York City landmarks.
She will be credited as an executive producer for the upcoming Tupac biopic "All Eyez on Me,' which drops in November.
RIP, Afeni Shakur.
rest well Queen Afeni Shakur
