There's a good chance Tupac Shakur will be the sixth rap act to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, following the Furious Five (2007), Run DMC (2009), the Beastie Boys (2012), Public Enemy (2013) and N.W.A. (2016).
Now the questions is whether he'll make it on his first try.
Pac was among the nominees for the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame class, which was announced this morning.
25 years have to had passed since the artist's first release to be nominated. Pac's album 2Pacalypse Now dropped in 1991.
Janet Jackson, The Cars, Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Pearl Jam, Journey, Jane's Addiction, Electric Light Orchestra, Depeche Mode and Steppenwolf were among the other nominees.
The 2016 inductees will be announced in December, and in April the induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
