TNT believes it has the right to match Amazon's bid, which is for 11 years at $1.8 billion a year and includes six conference finals, a full playoff slate, including the Play-In games and a regular-season package, the In-Season Tournament and Thursday night basketball.
The league may prefer to go with Amazon due to concern about TNT's parent company Warner Bros. Discovery's long-term commitment to TNT and live sports.
The matter may end up in court.
