The Weeknd is going to cap off his huge 2020 off with a halftime performance at Super LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year,” The Weeknd said in a press release.
For the second year in a row, JAY-Z was involved in making the halftime musical selection.
The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own. His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry.” Hov said, “This is an extraordinary moment in time and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show is going to be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary performer.”
The Weeknd's After Hours is the second best selling album of the year, trailing just Lil Baby's My Turn.
His halftime appearance should push After Hours to double-platinum if it hasn't already made it by then.
Of course, this is assuming there is going to be a Super Bowl and the recent COVID spike doesn't end up shutting it down.
