The Weeknd May Soon Stop Being The Weeknd

by HHL Editors

The Weeknd is on the cover of this month's Harper's Bazaar.

In the pages of the fashion mag, he speaks on why he goes by The Weeknd, rather than Abel Tesfaye, and why he may eventually retire his stage name.

"I’m not in a rush to let people know everything about me,” he says of going by The Weeknd. “Mystery is always great. Luckily, the only thing the world demands of me is music. I don’t have to give them anything else for the rest of my life."

Despite the relative anonymity that being The Weeknd gives him, he hints that the name may not be forever.

When asked if he’ll ever decide to pull back the curtain, he’s still uncertain. “Kind of like pulling a Ziggy Stardust. Maybe I’ll retire from being The Weeknd. Or maybe I’ll just give him a break.”
Would a Weeknd by another name still be the same?
