The Netflix documentary on Kanye West called Jeen-Yuhs is getting a lot of online discussion, and it's creators Clarence "Coodie" Simmons, as well as Chike Ozah, have been sharing details.
The project shows Ye trying to make it in the music business and it starts before he was signed to Roc-A-Fella Records.
Last month, there were reports that Ye wanted the final say in editing, which Simmons and Ozah spoke about with Insider.
"The film doesn't lie on that, so you definitely have his participation on camera," said Ozah. "But for us, as filmmakers, the name of our company is Creative Control so there are just certain rules in documentary filmmaking for it to be authentic. And for it to resonate, people need to see certain things. So, sometimes it's just not best for the filmmaking for the subject, who the film is largely about, to have control over the direction the story goes in."
