2 Chainz decided to throw the listening party for his upcoming album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music at a gallery in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood.
That proved to be a bad idea as the plan ran afoul of NYC's 'Hip Hop Cops', who notoriously keep a watch on rappers and their peeps.
A half hour before the party started the police, a fire marshall and a rep from the Department of Buildings were parked outside. The collected authorities shut the doors on the event once 74 people entered, citing fire code.
However, 2 Chainz had invited 200 to the event. In fact, he hadn't even arrived when the doors were locked. After 45 minutes of pleading, he was finally allowed into his own event, which he then canceled.
He apologized to those who were able to get in and explained the situation on Twitter.

A Department of Buildings spokesman also commented on the incident.
“DOB did not shut down the event. [We] informed the event promoters that they could continue with the event as long as the occupancy did not exceed 74 people. The promoters decided to cancel the event on their own instead of comply[ing] with the occupancy limit.”2 Chainz made good on his word and held another listening party last night at NYC's Up&Down club.
Pretty Girls Like Trap Music drops next Friday, June 16.
