The City Girls Say That Men Are Bothered By Women Dominating Rap

by Daryl Nelson

Before Nicki Minaj, one has to go back to Eve and Lauryn Hill to think of a successful mainstream female rapper. Prior to that, you have to go back to the days of MC Lyte and Queen Latifah in the '80s.

Things are drastically different now, and rap is filled with a bunch of female spitters, including Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Doja Cat and Rapsody.

The City Girls weighed in on the high number of female rappers during an interview with The Breakfast Club, and according to JT men are bothered by the female takeover in Hip Hop.

Her words come after CeeLo Green criticized Cardi B and Megan's video for "Wap," which he said was unnecessarily raunchy.  The Goodie Mob member has since apologized for his words after receiving backlash.

“Men is just threatened by the women dominating right now, because they are used to being in control of putting women on records, and now women are starting to team up and do it without them,” said JT in the interview. “Now they got so much to say, because back then you had to get on a hot song with a man to go No. 1 or even chart, but now women are doing it themselves.”

How would you respond to JT?
