Tekashi 6ix9ine thinks his very rap name may land him in prison

So he's asking a judge to ban the use of it in court.

6ix9ine is on trial for choking a 16-year old kid at a mall in Houston back in January. He has filed legal papers which request that he only be referred to by his government name, Daniel Hernandez, or by "defendant" or "accused" during the proceedings.

Tekashi's legal team argues the use of his rap name or any variants would only be for the purpose of putting"derogatory and satirically unflattering labels" on him.

6ix9ine will be arraigned in the Houston case in September, but his bigger legal problem is back home.

Earlier this month, the Manhattan DA's office determined that 6ix9ine violated the terms of the plea deal he struck in 2015 on one count of use of a child in sexual performance. They are now asking the judge to send 69 to state prison for one to three years.
