Forbes has dubbed Tech N9ne rap's "secret mogul" for his ability to make consistent under-the-radar cash. The money mag puts his earnings at about $9 million a year.
Touring and merchandising have a lot to do with that. But Tech also ends up selling a lot of albums because he releases a lot of albums.
To that point, Tech N9ne's most recent album Planet is his 19th to crack Billboard's Top Ten Rap Albums list.
That breaks a record he shared with E-40. Gucci Mane is third all-time with ten albums. (The chart goes back 14 years.)
None of Tech's albums are huge sellers; he's never gone Gold. But given Tech owns fifty percent of his independent label Strange Music, he pockets a lot more than most rappers from what he does sell.
