Many seemed to be shocked at reports that Tamar Braxton tried to commit suicide earlier this month.
It happened in her hotel room at the Ritz Carlton in downtown Los Angeles. Her boyfriend David Adefeso called police and said that Braxton was unconscious after ingesting pills and alcohol.
The singer and reality star has remained silent about the suicide attempt but addressed it for the first time today, July 30th. She said her suicide attempt had to do with reality show producers taking advantage of her for more than a decade.
"First and foremost, Thank you," wrote Braxton on Instagram. "Thank you to each and every individual who has prayed for me, thought of me, sent me their love and has showered me with their support. Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid."
"I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair," she added. "I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing. My cry for help went totally ignored ... It was only God's grace and his mercy on my attempt to end my pain and my life that I ham here to utilize my voice."
Hopefully, Braxton will get the help she needs and heals sooner than later.
