Count us among the folks who have had fun with T-Pain's constant dependence on Auto-Tune. But it turns out the rapper, song writer and producer has a little secret.
The 30-year old displayed his Auto-Tune-less vocal talents on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series this week. And, yes, we mean talents.
"People felt like I was using it to sound good," T-Pain said about the Auto-Tune addiction that made him rich and famous, but also reviled in some circles. "But I was just using it to sound different."
During the mini-concert T-Pain performed versions of 'Buy U a Drank', 'Up Down', and 'Drankin' Patna' with only naked, unprocessed vocals.
"This is weird as hell for me," T-Pain explained.
It was weird as hell for us as well. But maybe Kanye shoud listen the next time T-Pain gives him singing advice.
