Earlier this year, T-Pain revealed that Usher's words about Auto-Tune back in the day had sent him into a spiral of depression.
“Usher was my friend. I really respect Usher and he said, ‘I’m gonna tell you something, man, you kinda f*cked up music ... You really f*cked up music for real singers,'" said Pain. "I was like, ‘What did I do? I came out and I used Auto-Tune.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, you f*cked it up.’ I’m like, ‘But I used it, I didn’t tell everybody else to start using it.’”
Usher was pressured to apologize to T for his old, hurtful words, and when asked about in August he said that he had contacted his old friend and made things right.
However, T-Pain was on the Angie Martinez show last week and he revealed that Usher never did make things right.
“I texted him and I was like, ‘Yo, I know you saw what happened. I know you saw the interview.’ ‘Cause I told his A&R about the interview years ago because he was asking me to work with Usher. So I hit Usher after the interview came out and I’m like, ‘I’m sure you saw what happened. That was the truth, that’s what happened, you definitely said that.’ I remember that whole day," T-Pain said. “Then all he texted me back was, ‘Let’s not text, let’s talk.’ And I was like, ‘Cool, hit me up.’ And I never heard from him, he never called me. I feel like I initiated the contact.”
T-Pain is going through a rough patch -- his car was recently repossessed -- so now would be a good time for Usher to be in touch.
