Rayshard Brooks was a black man who was shot in the back by a white police officer in Atlanta on Friday and died.
T.I. is one of the many who've expressed anger over the shooting, which comes at a time when people are protesting police brutality all over the world.
Tip joined a protest for Brooks on Saturday where he spoke.
“I don't give a damn what your opinion is of the person," he told the crowd. "I don't give a damn what he did. The man didn’t deserve to die like that, and any policeman out here who stands behind that sh*t your ass in trouble too, man.”
“We are going to have to organize," Tip added. "We’re going to have to demonstrate but we are going to have to do it with purpose. And when I say purpose, I mean direction. We’ve got to go where we need to go and do what we need to do in those areas. Everybody needs to choose what it is you need to do, pick your purpose and operate with purpose and direction. And if you don’t do it in the name of Tip, do it in the name of Rashard and all the rest of the people who died at the hands of the police.”
Officers approached Brooks after he was seen sleeping in his car in a Wendy's drive-through. A struggle between Brooks and officers broke out. Brooks then broke free and ran away with one of the officer's tasers. Officer Garrett Rolfe fired his gun and hit him twice in the back. Rolfe was fired afterward, and Brooks' death has been ruled a homicide.
What do you think about T.I.'s words?
