SZA and her label TDE were at odds during the run up to her album Ctrl.
In fact, in October SZA threatened to quit because she didn't like how TDE president Punch was treating her.

In a new interview with the Guardian, SZA gave some insight into what was happening behind the scenes.
According to the 26-year old, TDE took complete control of Ctrl when she was being indecisive about what to put on her debut album.
“They just took my hard drive from me,” the singer said. “I just kept fucking everything up. I just kept moving shit around. I was choosing from 150, 200 songs, so I’m just like, who knows what’s good any more?” “Give me another month and it would have been something completely different,” she added.Ctrl was a critical hit and did fairly well commercially. So it looks like label knew best here.
