Cedrick ‘Swab’ Cotton the singing of the R&B group Ideal -- who had a few hits in the 90s and toured for years after-- was stabbed to death in broad daylight in his hometown of Houston.
The 46-year-old was attacked in the Fondren Food Mart in the Southwest part of town.
Swab's mother Delores Floyd said he liked to hang out at the convenience store.
He'd ride his little bike, go there, get a quick cigarette. The next thing I know, I get this call and I heard people ... 'He comes here every day. He doesn't bother anybody. He's a good guy,'" she explained.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his late 20s.
Ideal's self-titled debut yielded the hits "Creep Inn", "Get Gone", and "Whatever".
Although there had been plans for a follow-up, they never materialized.
RIP.
