Suge Knight is doing a lot of talking through his lawyer Thaddeus Culpepper.
The former Death Row boss recently cosigned a theory forwarded by the new documentary Tupac Assassination III: Battle for Compton that he, not Tupac, was the target in Las Vegas a little over 20 years ago.
Now Culpepper is revealing exactly who Knight thinks orchestrated what become the murder of Pac.
"Knight has known for many years that Reggie Wright Jr. and [Knight]'s ex-wife Sharitha were behind the murder of Tupac and attempted murder of Knight," Culpepper wrote in a signed affidavit. It's a theory that's been around for a while and here's the short of it:
Knight’s soon-to-be ex-wife and Reggie Wright Jr., head of Death Row security, cooked up a plot to take out Knight and take control of Death Row. Suge was about to divorce Saritha, but if he died before that happened she would inherit most of the company.
The theory was originally forwarded by ex-LAPD detective Russell Poole, who had investigated Pac's murder.
In Poole's account, the actual trigger men were the brothers Malcolm and Danny Patton, and a Long Beach Crip named Donald Smith, who rapped for Death Row under the name Lil ½ Dead.
It remains to be seen if Suge's affidavit will reopen an investigation into Pac's murder.
The cynic would certainly point out that it's convenient for Knight to introduce a plot against him when he's facing a murder and attempted murder charges --- which he plans on contesting with self-defense.
Update: Suge's lawyer denies there is an affidavit.
Twitter is certainly skeptical:
When you hear they finally solved Tupac's murder and suge knight of all ppl was the one who solved it pic.twitter.com/aVdjQ5LZ2b All these years now & Suge Knight wanna say he know who killed Tupac !!!!! so basically we waited 20yrz 4 Suge Knight 2 point fingers @ his ex-wife nah Suge Knight is like an evil Uncle Phil.
