Stevie J gave some insight into that video of Diddy beating Cassie.
He visited Diddy right after the footage leaked in May and spoke to him about his state of mind during the assault.
Stevie confirmed what the jailed mogul said in his apology video: That he was in a dark place in 2016 when the beating happened. Stevie spoke about Diddy's drug use as well.

Stevie J shares details from his private in-person conversation with Diddy after the hotel video of Diddy beating Cassie came out and says he told Diddy he was hurt when he saw it.

"After I saw the video, I went and saw him in Miami, and we had a conversation, and I let him know how affected I was by that," said Stevie in TMZ's documentary The Downfall of Diddy. "I didn’t know he had that in him to do that."
Stevie talked about Diddy's reaction to the video after that.
"He was hurt that that video came out. It crushed him," he explained. "He’s like 'my daughters and my mom got to see this' … What he did on the video, he couldn’t believe that that was the darkest point of his life, and he had to relive that and see that again with his ex-girlfriend of 10 years. I just know he was in a dark place. His life, as he described to me, he was doing a lot of drugs. It was just dark for him."
