Memphis Grizzzlies coach Dave Fizdale was relieved of his duties last night after an eight game losing streak and a controversial fourth quarter benching of Marc Gasol, the team's best player.
On the other hand, Fizdale was 50-51 during his Memphis tenure, suggesting his firing may have been premature.
Fizdale was a long time assistant coach before getting the Grizzlies job and some of his former players, including LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Stephen Jackson, criticized the move on social media.
When Jackson typed his mind, he also ripped Memphis forward Chandler Parsons, who signed a four-year $94 million contract with the Grizzlies in 2016, but has been more likely to be in the news for his social media game than his play on the court since then.
Parsons snapped back at the criticism, explaining he's had three recent knee surgeries, which is why he takes more shots at IG models than he does baskets.
Captain Jack wasn't buying that.
For his part, Parsons seems to agree that Fizdale got a raw deal.
"It's a cold world, man," Parsons told TMZ Sports at LAX. "Fiz is a good dude, great coach. I learned a lot from him so I got nothing but good things to say about him."
