Snoop Dogg's 'Bush' Flops; Drake Keeps Rolling

by HHL Editors

America loves Snoop Dogg the personality. Snoop Dogg the rapper, not so much.

Despite the oft-mentioned involvement of hit maker and old musical pal Pharrell, Snoop's 13th album Bush came out a dud, just moving 24,389 in its first week, according to Hits Daily Double.

That's about the same as fellow dad rappers Wu Tang sold back in December with their disappointing A Better Tomorrow.

Tech N9ne, a 40-something who had his best opening ever last week, also came back to earth a bit; Special Effects sold 15,015 in its second week, a 73 percent decline.

The next two Hip Hop albums on the charts were long-time holdovers. Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late (12,570) and Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly  (9,521).

That Drake remains ahead of Kendrick when IYRTITL came more out in the middle of February and  TPAB in the middle of March says everything you need to know about that chart match up.

With the year almost halfway over, Drizzy remains the undisputed Hip Hop sales champ. In fact, the only project we can see unseating the platinum selling IYRTITL is another Drake album. (Sorry, Kanye and Lil Wayne.)
