Snoop Dogg seems to be a super busy guy these days, because not only is he still putting out music, he's a major TV personality.
He's a record executive as well, recently buying Death Row Records and becoming Def Jam's Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant.
The rap legend spoke about his role at Def Jam during an interview on Tidal and how he got Benny The Butcher signed. Benny made the announcement that he signed with the New York based label in November of last year.
“I’m like, ‘What’s up with you and Def Jam?’ [Benny is] like, ‘Oh man, they lowballed me,'" Snoop explained. "I said, ‘Lowballed you? They don’t know who you is?' He’s looking at me like, ‘Damn, you know who I am?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know exactly who you is and what you worth. I’m over at Def Jam now. Who was you talking to?' ... [Benny] told me who he was talking to. [I said,] ‘We’re not going to talk to them. I’m going to call the boss. You’re going to tell the boss what you want and he’s going to give you what you want and you’re going to sign.'”
Do you think Def Jam will help or hurt Benny's career?
