On Arnold Schwarzenegger's last day as California governor he reduced the manslaughter sentence of Esteban Nunez, the son of the state's assembly speaker Fabian Nunez, from 16 years to seven years.
The younger Nunez was freed on parole this week, and Snoop Dogg jumped on Instagram to rip Schwarzenegger for helping out a political ally while denying clemency to Crips founder Tookie Williams, who died by lethal injection in 2005.
Williams was convicted of killing four people during robberies in 1979 and given the death penalty.
He became an anti-gang advocate in prison, and his clemency was championed on those grounds, rather than any claims that he was innocent.
Schwarzenegger has called his decision to execute Williams his "toughest" as governor.
