Shyne Speaks On His Relationship With Diddy On 'Drink Champs'

by HHL JT

Shyne has expressed unhappiness in the past over the way Diddy threw him under the bus after their notorious club shootout, which also involved Jennifer Lopez.

Shyne ended up serving almost ten years, while Puff was acquitted of all charges.

However, Shyne spent time with Diddy earlier this year when the Belize citizen (and opposition leader) returned to the US for the first time since being departed in 2010.

He spoke on his evolving feelings toward Puff during a new Drink Champs interview.  [Jump to 39 minutes.]

“I don’t really blame that on him now as much as I did then,” Shyne said “Because I did go through a stage of bitterness. But in retrospect, I blame it more on the lawyers that were advising him then him. Because his lawyers were there to secure a ‘not guilty’ verdict by any means.

He’s a $100 million corporation and, you know, they looked at me as the enemy. This is how many years ago? This is 20-something years ago. So Puff is still young relatively. So he’s much younger then and it’s a lot of pressure. He’s about to lose everything. I’m about to lose everything. I’m from that though. Right?  Diddy is a musician, great executive, great entertainment. but he wasn’t from that. So his response shouldn’t be expected to be my response. And then when your lawyers and maybe other people are misleading you and misguiding you, that’s how everything fell apart. And he said that to me. He said, ‘I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have never listened to those lawyers.’ And I forgave him. It was traumatic. I would forgive him and then you might hear me a few months later going in on him. That was over a decade ago and I was in a different space then. Today, I'm all about how I'm going to impact the world.  And forgivenessis a part of that. I can't carry 23 years ago with me in a negative way."
