Tension between Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal is part of the NBA on TNT experience.
Some of it is manufactured for entertainment purposes. But the two very big men seemed to get genuinely pissed with each other last night -- and things almost got really messy.
It all started when Shaq pointed out that Barkley never won a championship, as he often does.
“If I had been riding on Kobe’s coattails, and Dwyane Wade’s. And Alonzo Mourning’s too, I forgot about him. And Rick Fox and Derek Fisher" Barkley responded. “People question why you’re in the Hall of Fame anyway, bum," Shaq shot back.Ernie Johnson tried to deescalate the situation, but it didn't work.
"Chuck’s always interrupting," Shaq explained. "Don’t interrupt me, Chuck, or I’m going to punch you right in your face, I’m telling you.” "If you hit me, we’re gonna be moving the furniture. I’m gonna throw one of these chicken wings at your fat ass," Barkley respondedBut it was actually Shaq who appeared ready to toss a dead bird piece. Luckily for Kenny Smith's white suit, everybody kept their food to themselves.
Too bad, because it would have been the greatest wing fight ever.
