In the wake of Kid Rock's drunken rant about Oprah Winfrey (and Joy Behar and Kathie Lee Gifford), Detroit's Little Ceasar's Arena and Rock mutually agreed to end the licensing agreement the arena had with Rock's Made In Detroit restaurant.
In Rock's rant, he slurred “I’m not a bad guy, I’m just an honest guy, saying I don’t like Oprah Winfrey or Joy Behar. They can suck d–k sideways ... "F*ck Oprah Winfrey. F*ck Kathy Gifford."
An audience member accused him of being racist against Oprah, which he denied and then lamented Winfrey's hold over white women.
Now Rock is suggesting that the racism accusation led to the arena booting his restaurant. Rock, who hails from an exurb north of Detroit, also accused elements of the Motor City of being ungrateful for what he had done for it. He explained his position on Facebook:
"I will not be renewing my licensing agreement for my Made In Detroit Restaurant this April.I appreciate all who have patronized our place and still have much love for the City of Detroit and the people / organizations that I have helped there for years, black, white, whatever, but learned long ago, go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated.I guess the millions of dollars I pumped into that town was not enough.
I will let the NAN network and others go ahead and take the wheel now. Good luck. I may be guilty of being a loud mouth jerk at times, but trying to label me racist is a joke, and actually only does a disservice to the black community, which I have supported my entire life, by trying to alienate myself and many others.
