Rich the Kid isn't trying to mimic lyricists like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole or YBN Cordae. In fact, he doesn't want to be lyrical at all.
The Atlanta rapper, who's been robbed more than once in L.A., recently spoke with XXL and said he's just focused on his music charting well.
“I make hit records,” he stated. “I’m not trying to be lyrical or that bullsh*t. I’m just making good music.”
A lot of other rappers have made similar statements as if being a good lyricist is a choice and something they could turn on at the drop of a dime.
Pusha T once said that lyrics aren't important in Hip Hop anymore, which could be Eminem's problem with today's rap. But Justin Bieber said Em just doesn't understand today's artists.
Do you think Rich the Kid could be lyrical if he really wanted to?
