After Martin Shkreli bought the one-off Wu-Tang album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for $2 million things between him and the Staten Island collective deteriorated.
It started when Shkreli dissed group leader RZA for being "disrespectful" in an interview with HipHopDX.
"I bought the most expensive album in the history of mankind and fucking RZA is talking shit behind my back... If I hand you $2million, fucking show me some respect," Shkreli told the website in December of 2015. "We sat down for maybe 45 minutes at most. The guy is fucking full of himself, talking about how his shit is the best ever," he said of RZA. "I'd encourage him to shut the fuck up before he goes a little too far."
"Now one had ever dissed RZA or the Clan like that. Ever,” Bozorgmehr writes. “There had to be retaliation for this, whether it was through words, fists, or maybe even bullets from a Staten Island crew who wouldn’t let the Clan get dissed by this fuck. There’s an awful lot of motherfuckers who’d be delighted to step to Martin first – no matter what anyone said. Man’s going down.”Bozorgmehr says tensions simmered down when Shkreli was arrested and charged with securities fraud, conspiracy, and wire fraud conspiracy just days after he made his comments about RZA.

In the book, Bozorgmehr also revealed that the arrest prevented Shkreli from dropping an Ol Dirty Bastard diss track in which Shkreli would also threaten to kill the rest of the collective.
'What the fuck is wrong with this guy? Using a dead Clan member to threaten the murder of the rest of the Clan? That would have been tantamount to inciting a gang war,' Bozorgmehr wrote.
