Kevin Durant and Draymond Green have both said they are done talking about their argument earlier in the week, which led to Golden State suspending Green for one game without pay, citing “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Now Yahoo! Sports Chris Haynes is reporting that Green told Durant, who can be a free agent after the season, to leave the Warriors during their verbal spat.
"But what ultimately led to Green’s suspension, sources said, was a remark in which he dared Durant to bolt in free agency next summer. Durant has a player option for the 2019-20 season, and the Warriors want their superteam intact for the opening of their new arena, the Chase Center, in San Francisco next season.
Green blurted to Durant something along the lines of, “We don’t need you. We won without you. Leave,” sources said.
The Warriors very much want to resign Durant, and that's why they punished Green for his words.
Both Green and Durant were on the court last night for Golden State's game against the Rockets. But guard Stephen Curry, who has a groin injury, wasn't, and the team went down 107-86 to the struggling Rockets.
“We’re banged up physically and banged up spiritually,” coach Steve Kerr said after the loss. “There’s no getting around that.”
Do you think Golden State is in trouble, or will a healthy Curry cure everything?
