About one month after it was announced that weed was made legal in New Jersey, state legislatures are finalizing a bill to legalize for all use it in neighboring New York.
New York lawmakers reached an agreement on Wednesday, March 24 that would permit those age 21 and over to purchase and carry up to three ounces of marijuana and be allowed to grow the plant. It's also being said that dispensaries will be open in New York by December 2022 and there will be a 13 percent tax on sales.
"This year we have to get it done, and getting it done by the time the budget is passed is essential,” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo at a press conference on Thursday. “Cannabis is not just social equity, it’s also revenue for the state ... We’ve been trying to legalize cannabis for three years. I’ve failed every year."
