Pusha T Admits He Took A Huge L On The McDonald's Jingle

It's a good time to be Pusha T.

Sure, his album Daytona didn't hit number one. But it had the best opening week of his solo career and then there's the whole Drake thing.

In an interview with Drink Champs, the man who's been showered with Ws over the last few weeks admitted he took a big ole L back in the day.

As you probably know, Pusha T wrote McDonald's "I'm Loving It" jingle, which the fast food giant has been featuring since 2003. Push got 500K for his work, which is nothing to sneeze at. However, it's just a fraction of the $6 million Justin Timberlake received for singing the jingle.  Combine that with Push not getting publishing on the jingle he wrote and, well ...

"I took a super L," Pusha explained. "Just upfront, no publishing. Shoutout to Steve Stoute, he gave me the check and I was like ‘Ahhh great,’"

"I want artists to know that part. Keep your publishing. That check will be nice, but ‘I’m Lovin’ It' been running for how long now? I did this in ‘03. Who knows what it would have been," Push continued.

Push did learn a lesson from that setback. A sample of his 2014 track "Burial", which he did with the U.K. EDM act Yogi, is featured at the end of the Arby's "We Have The Meats" spot. This time, Push set it up right.

"The get back is real. I also own 40 percent of the Arby’s commercial," he said on Drink Champs. "You live and you learn.”
