If you've been on the Internet today, you've probably seen and heard Kendrick Lamar spitting on the Prince deep cut What's My Name during the Purple One's live-stream release party for his new albums Art Official Age and PlectrumElectrum. And perhaps there is a reason the clip has been so aggressively promoted.
According to the folks at AllHipHop, Prince will be featured on at least one track of Lamar's much anticipated third studio album, set for release later this year.
If this rumor is true -- and it sounds about right -- it will be interesting to see what sound K-Dot and the artist formerly known as a symbol come up with. We are getting more of a rock vibe from the pairs' brief "What's My Name" collaboration and Prince's previous forays into Hip Hop have been spotty at best. However, when it comes to making great music, Prince is the last person you'd ever bet against. And that Kendrick Lamar guy isn't so bad either...
