Post Malone Gets Twitter Assaulted For Saying There's No Real Sh*t In Hip Hop

by HHL JT

Post Malone rubbed some folks the wrong way with comments he made about Hip Hop to a Polish newspaper.

"If you're looking for lyrics, if you're looking to cry, if you're looking to think about life, don't listen to hip-hop," Post said. "There's great hip-hop songs where they talk about life and they spit that real shit, but right now, there's not a lot of people talking about real shit."

"Whenever I want to cry, whenever I want to sit down and have a nice cry, I'll listen to some Bob Dylan," he continued. "Or whenever I'm trying to have a good time and stay in a positive mood, I listen to hip-hop. Because it's fun. I think hip-hop is important because it brings people together in a beautiful, happy way."

In his words, Post makes a pretty clear delineation between Hip Hop today and Hip Hop in general when he says the genre currently lacks much depth. (But still has its virtues). However, when many folks already suspect you're on the Kid Rock career path there's going to be some pretty harsh reactions to those words.

See what Twitter had to say:

"If you're looking for lyrics, if you're looking to cry, if you're looking to think about life, don't listen to hip hop"

spoken like a true vulture who only saw rap as a means of making money off a culture they do not understand on a fundamental level https://t.co/5IygmMmKGT

That Lil Peep cracker brother came out and said the shit was an act and the dumbass just took it too far. Miley Cyrus switched up after the well ran dry. Post Malone said the shit was too easy to make money off it but he don’t even fuck with it as a genre. Y’all still caping.

Post Malone’s comment is one of the sole reasons why hip hop is, and will always be, much more than having rhythm and threading words together. don’t let them commodify our culture.

i understand why you guys are angry with Post Malone saying that hip-hop is “easy” and void of realness, but someone please tell me where the lie is.

before we play victim, we need to take accountability for how stupid and unsubstantial we’ve allowed hip-hop to become.
