Earlier this year, the LAPD and their K9 unit tracked NBA YoungBoy down to serve him a federal warrant.
He was later charged with possessing a gun as a felon and has been denied bail.
YoungBoy's legal team is set to argue that the authorities went after him just because they wanted to mock his alternative rap name, YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
"The only evidence of their motivation behind this decision is the title of the operation, 'NEVER FREE AGAIN,' a clear attack on to defendant’s brand 'Never Broke Again' and related legal entities," his lawyers state in new filings. "There is no testimony or other evidence as to how the firearm came to be inside that vehicle or how long it had been in the vehicle. Nor have any fingerprints, DNA testing, or other forensics been performed which would demonstrate Mr. Gaulden knowingly possessed that firearm at any time."
Do you think that line of argument has any chance of working?
