Phresher is the only announced rapper on Eminem's upcoming album Revival.
This is something that has surprised everyone. Including 2 Chainz, who thought he was on the album.
It's no big surprise that Em found out about Phresher through his one hit "Wait A Minute."
But he did so through his good buddy Royce Da 5'9"'s remix of the track. Phresher explained what happened on This Is 50.
"Royce Da 5'9" went ham on 'Wait a Minute.' Three minutes, just...retarded," Phresher recalls in the video. "Eminem hit [Royce] on Twitter, 'Ay, what is this? What is this, and why are you doing this?' [Royce 5'9"] goes, 'This is Phresher's record.' [Eminem] goes, 'Oh..ok, ok.' And that's when it happened."
Not long after that, Shady's manager Paul Rosenberg called Phresher's manager and told him Em wanted Phresher to do a hook on his album. Then Em flew to New York to record with Phresher. It turned out they wanted more than a hook.
"I get in the studio. I do the hook. They say "you got a verse" ... I'm like sure, I got a verse. I do the verse. And they're like you know, 2 Chainz is on the record too. Listen to his verse."
Phresher's mentioning of 2 Chainz is interesting, considering he doesn't seem to be on the album.
Do you think 2 Chainz has a surprise verse on "Chloraseptic", the Revival track featuring Phresher? Or did they maybe bump him for Phresher?
