Pete Rock Says It's A Travesty That Heavy D Isn't Included In More Hip Hop 50 Stuff

Heavy D & the Boyz are number 42 on Billboard's 50 Greatest Rap Groups of All Time list. 

But Heavy's cousin, Pete Rock, believes he should be included in way more tributes for Hip Hop's 50th anniversary.

"I respect absolutely NONE of this talk about 50 years of Hip Hop that does not include HEAVY D and the Boyz,” wrote Rock on Instagram. “He KICKED DOWN the door and paved a way for A LOT OF MOTHERF*CKERS!! I think his smoothness and humbleness makes people forget his impact and relevance in the music business.”

 “I NEED EVERY ONE WHO AGREES ( ESPECIALLY EVERYBODY FOR MONEY EARNING MOUNT VERNON!!) TO REPOST AND SHARE SO WE CAN GET HEV A PROPER TELEVISED TRIBUTE for his achievements and contributions to the game. #HeavyD RIP DWIGHT MYERS," he added.

Snoop Dogg is one person who sided with the producer.

"Facts. Big. Tyme," he wrote in the comments.

Queen Latifah also agreed.

"Heav was my friend," she stated. "Put us on his tour and showed us what rocking a crowd was About!!! Love to him his family and his Whole Crew!!!"
