Pete Rock Fires Back At Offset, Says He Should Salute The Older Generation

Pete Rock is not feeling Offset's recent comments regarding older artists in Hip Hop

Offset recently did an interview on Hot 97 and he had quite the opinion about Hip Hop and what Migos has brought to the culture over the last few years.

I always say it, if you’re an older artist, you should be thanking us, kissing our feet," Offset agreed. "Not just the Migos. How we turned the culture of music. Number one, Hip Hop? In life, Hip Hop has never been the number one genre, ever. So what were you doing that is better? Right now when you go to Spotify (etc.) you're not seeing the other genres.  People listen to Hip Hop more than any other time. So you should be saluting us.

On top of that, Offset said older artists should be kissing the newer artists feet, not just Migos, but all the new artists that have turned Hip Hop into a more mainstream genre.

Well, Pete Rock is not one to hold his tongue, and he took a page out of Lupe Fiasco's book, firing back the Migos member on Instagram.

Pete suggests that Offset should be kissing his feet and saluting the older generation, and says without them, there would be no Migos or Offset. 

It should be the other way around cuz without the older generation this cat wouldnt exist SO OFFSET should salute us,we set the bar very high and its not easy to duplicate what my generation has done since the 80’s & 90’s. The real ones still carrying the torch but whats missing is the respect of what we did and its a shame this dude is saying this cuz he doesnt realize its the generation before his that put him in position. I wont talk about their skillset but i will say everything the new generation is doing sounds the same,lyrically and musically!! Give credit where credit is due,YOU SALUTE US NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!! Thank You! 🙏🏾🙄🤦🏾‍♂️ Is what offset is saying make sense??? WE PAVED THE WAY NOT MIGOS WE DID 🙌🏾
