Chicago rap vet Payroll passed away earlier this week.
There were reports he was murdered. But sources tell Fake Shore Drive he died of a drug overdose.
Payroll and his 40 Gang crew were big on the Chicago scene in the 90s and early 2000s, and Payroll collaborated with Windy City rappers like EC Illa, Bump J, Cap 1 and Triple Darkness.
His biggest national moment came when he feuded with Kanye West over the track 'Never Change.'
West had produced what became 'Never Change' for Payroll before 'Ye became famous. Not long after a nearly identical West produced version of "Never Change" showed up on Jay-Z's 2001 album The Blueprint.
Furious, Payroll recorded the diss track 'Fuck Kanye West.'
