Kevin Fret, who called himself the first openly gay Latin trap rapper, was murdered in his home of Puerto Rico yesterday.
The 24-year old was shot eight times as he rode his motorcycle at approximately 5:31 AM. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"Kevin was an artistic soul, a big-hearted dreamer. His passion was music, and still had a lot to do. This violence must stop," Fret's manager Eduardo Rodriguez said. "There are no words that describe the feeling we have and the pain that causes us to know that a person with so many dreams has to go. We must all unite in these difficult times, and ask for much peace for our beloved Puerto Rico."
Peurto Rico is in the midst of a crime wave, and Fret's murder was the 22nd of the year on the island of 3.3 million people. Police haven't announced any suspects or a motive in Fret's killing.
RIP.
