Why the hefty price tag?

Well, these aren't just wax figures. They are battery powered, and breath like they are in a deep sleep. They are also very accurate: DONDA, the art collective which created them, said it took four months of animation modeling, 3-D scanning and stylist consultations to complete the life-sized pieces.

That all cost an estimated $500,000.
