Notorious B.I.G Mural In Brooklyn Won't Be Destroyed After Hip Hop Intervenes

by HHL Editors

A mural of The Notorious B.I.G. on the side of a Brooklyn brownstone near where the late rap legend grew up has been the topic of much discussion lately.

The landlord had planned to take down the art because he wanted to add windows to his rental units. The group Spread Art NYC offered Berkowitz $5000 to save the mural. But the landlord countered with $1250 a month, which Spread Art couldn't afford.

It was looking bleak for Biggie. But now it looks like the story is going to have a happy ending.

This evening, Spread Art's Instagram page reported a deal has been reached. While the terms weren't disclosed, they credited the neighborhood landlords, T.I., the Brooklyn Nets, 8th District Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio with making the deal happen.
